GSM Products & Solar Solutions

In addition to the GSM Easygate Mobile Phone operator we are pleased to offer this excellent Gate Intercom – operating by the same principal

TCX-Intercom is a GSM intercom that can be installed on any gate just providing power and can call up to 3 phones, one after the other. With TCX Intercom you can answer to anybody who is at your gate, from anywhere. You can open the gate dialing a code on your phone. You can use TCX-Intercom as a gate opening system and use it to open your gate with a phone.

How does the TCX-Intercom work? When you push the button in the GSM intercom plate, the unit will dial the numbers (up to 3) you have programmed in it, starting with the first and passing to the second and third after a programmable amount of time. You can answer and speak with a standard telephone quality, wherever you are. You can then open the gate dialing a 3 digits code on your phone. TCX Intercom incorporates a MC55i, Quad Band professional industrial grade GSM engine that receives calls as any ordinary GSM phone. Of course it can also be used to open a gate, exactly like our TCX-Easygate. Just to give an example, if your SIM has a phone number 445-1234968, that is the number you have to call to open the gate. TCX Intercom has a memory where you will store the numbers of people enabled to open your gate When TCX Intercom receives a call, it will check the calling number and if the number is in the list you have prepared it will reject the call and open the gate. It is also possible to use '?' (interrogation mark) as special characters. Entering 777-456123? will give access to any number from 777-4561230 to 777-4561239.

Does it work with any electric gate? Yes. All electric gates have a button that is used to open them. TCX Intercom has a relay whose contact has to be connected to the opening button. Actually it 'pushes' the button in your place.
IMPORTANT NOTE: it is important that your gate closes automatically. Do not use the Intercom to open a door that must be closed manually!

Does it cost me anything to use my phone to open my gate? TCX Intercom doesn't answer the call, it simply checks the caller ID. Your network must send the caller ID otherwise TCX Intercom won't work. Usually operators don't charge until you answer the call, so it won't cost you anything to open the gate with TCX Intercom.
Of course you need to have an active SIM inside it, and this may have a monthly fee regardless of the calls. Check your local operators for these details

Shackleton Mill 100 Year Old Gates given

21st Century Solar Solution

We were approached by Fingal County Council who wanted to automate the 100 Year Old Entrance Gates at Shackleton Mill – Lucan Co. Dublin

Set in beautiful old gardens – the main problem was to get power to the gates without disturbing the flora and fauna of the area – particularly 2 very rare trees – one of which – the Gingko tree is one of only two in Europe. Installing a ducting system to carry a 300 metre power supply from the house to the gates carried a danger of root disturbance.

Our solution was to install a Solar Power System together with a GSM Unit – also linked to the solar panel -  whereby the unit calls the house for opening access. Discussions were duly held with Fingal County council who were happy to go ahead and commission the project. A solar system whilst being comparable cost wise to installing a conventional system would be economic to run as it generates its own power – so creates no utility bill where other cost are incurred.

The system was successfully commissioned on the shortest day of the year – with no sunshine that day – and the gate has been in operation without problem since.

Just shows you that the gates some 100 years old – built to last! Can combine with today’s technology to make a successful partnership.

Of course solar panels can operate new gate systems as well!! Having minimal visual impact and straightforward  installation – no power supply necessary. Suitable for private houses, commercial premises and farm gate applications.

 Solar Panel Installation Shackelton Mill

We were pleased to receive the following comments from Colm Connell - District Supervisor Parks and Heritage Properties

"Fingal Engineering have worked with Fingal Co.Co. to provide automated gates on one of our properties in Lucan Co. Dublin. The site, Shackletons Mills is of extreme historical value and contains many valuable trees and shrubs. For this reason we went with a solar powered unit to provide power as there was a 300metre run from the nearest power source and would have resulted in damage to plant material in getting cables to the gates. The result is an environmentally friendly unobtrusive feature which is working very well. I would recommend Fingal Engineering to anybody who is looking for gate automation"
